Congrats! Well done, Joyce. That's something that you could be very proud of. I also felt very empty when I started to wean Sze Yi off, and after a few months later, I would occasionally asked her if she wants Mommy's nen nen. Sometimes she'll come suckled awhile, and then laugh because she knows there's none and then walked away. But I missed those bf moments too.

Joyce says: You are so right! This is something that we can all relate too...though I dare not tempt him yet la.

Congrats to u n Ethan! That was a really touching story. Luckily I din hv any probs weaning the kids off. They were ready themselves. But it was quite a short journey for me, less than a yr.

Joyce says: Yeah, some kids automatically do that. But not Ethan though... it was nevertheless a wonderful journey for both of us.

Congratulations for successfully breastfed, and weaned Ethan. Bonjela? Never thought of that, but sounds a great idea!

BTW, I always think that we, mothers, are the one difficult to wean, not the children. After weaning Isabel, I still occassionally teased her, asked her whether she wants or not. See, not her who initiated, but me! I am a naughty mama.

Looks like my weaning process is easier than yours, probably Isabel has already drank less or even none, during the day. :)

Joyce says: Thank you, Suzette! You're right, in my case, I was the one who was not willing to let go.

Congrats on successfully weaning Mr Bulat off the breast. 2 years of b/f is indeed a long time and he's already got the best nutrition from you.

Joyce says: Yes, 2 years is the recommended duration too. Thanks!

Congratulations!! Don't worry about the emptiness feel, u will soon get occupy by the second baby! hahaha!

On and off, Kelvin will come to me and want me to cuddle him, they just misses our smell...And sometimes at night when he's about to sleep, he will "ask" me to carry him in my arm and do story telling, another type or bonding between mummy and baby huh!

But, i do missesssssssss the breastfeeding moment, the moment that solely for mummy and baby!

Joyce says: Yes, this is the emptiness that only a mother who has breastfed will understand.

What a wonderful journey! I got so emotional just reading it...

Joyce says: You'll experience it some day too. I just know it. It's a journey every woman should not miss out on. Ever.

Well done, Joyce! And I must say well done to Ethan too for being co-operative and obedient. Now you can look forward to uninterrupted sleep. I'm envious.....but nothing much I can do on my end (no feeds, just frequent nightmares I suppose) so I am just grateful to God for giving me my little boy :)

Joyce says: Like real, uninterrupted sleep! He still gets nightmares every night and needs to be comforted and cuddled...

oh congrats and thanks for that wonderful post.. I needed that.. :-) I am being "nagged" (not by hubby though) for not weaning my baby off the comfort suckling.. sigh

Joyce says: The important thing is to wait for baby to be ready. And to make sure you are ready. Let me know if you need more details about the weaning, okay?
